6 Basic Wardrobe Pieces Every Mom Needs

I won’t pretend to be a Fashionista but I do know about needs versus wants. When it comes to clothing for work or meeting with clients, there are a few basic wardrobe pieces every mom needs that won’t break the bank.

Have you outgrown your clothes? Maybe you need fresh pieces because your current ones are worn and tattered? If you’re a working woman or business owner, you need to start making a plan to update your attire. I always tell people that we don’t have to look like what we’re going through. So, within reason and without guilt, go out and purchase what you need.

Of course we want a closet full of clothes! But until we can make that happen within our budgets without going into debt (you should know by now that I have to throw in this disclaimer), let’s make sure we have what we need for everyday business attire.

6 Basic Wardrobe Pieces Every Mom Needs

These 6 basic wardrobe pieces will give us a good start:

Black Dress

We can never go wrong with a black dress. It works for daytime for business and nighttime for socializing.

Two options I love is this Calvin Klein Shift Dress and this Anne Klein V-Neck Drape Dress!

Black Pumps

When you have nothing else to wear or on a strict budget, pull out your black high heels to pull your look together.

I absolutely love these pumps by Vince Camuto!

White Blouse

Are you noticing the theme here? We must have these basic pieces in our closet. They help us to create different looks.

I love a classy white blouse like this one by Express! It’s pretty and easy to care for by machine washing.

Gray or Black Pants

I have this exact pair of black pants by Calvin Klein! Great fit and they look so cute with pumps.

Professional Handbag

This beautiful bag by La Cle is perfect for your work day! It can even hold your Ipad.

Set of Pearls – Necklace, Earrings, Bracelet

To top of your look, why not add a pretty set of pearls! I wear mine at least once per week. Here is a set of pearls that fits any budget.

Tell me about your style. What basic wardrobe pieces are a must-have for you?

It’s very short article, but you got the point. Your six pieces of dress are really cool and usable for moms and others women. Thanks for the article.

My basic needs are also the ones listed above. I’ll have to add black pencil skirt, trench coat and stripe tee to the list.

This is a classic list of must haves! I have ALL of these things in my closet now. But after trying them on, I’ve realized I need smaller sizes. This is a great problem to have! 🙂

I have all but the black dress. Yikes! What woman doesn’t have a black daytime dress? I had a black pencil skirt but I don’t think they work well with these baby wagons I have for hips. lol j/k I don’t think they work well on me so I definitely need to go out and grab me a black dress. Great post!

Yes! I agree with each one of these. Definitely the foundation for a great professional wardrobe. Hmmmm. What would I add? Maybe a sharp blazer that can be dressed up or down.
