Over 9 million businesses are owned by women in the U.S. Are you a single mom who aspires to be in that number? Are you already an entrepreneur? No matter what stage your business may be in currently, there are business tools available to help you succeed.
In this new age of technology and social media, we now have quicker access to information and systems that make running a business more efficient. Whether your business is a physical location or online, these five must have business tools can help you save time and make money.
5 Must Have Business Tools for Single Mom Entrepreneurs
We should always be open to learning, and one of the best ways to do that is to read business books by other entrepreneurs. There are even business start-up kits that give you a road map to tailor and follow for your business.
Calendly is an online service that “facilitates online scheduling of appointments.” It’s now easier than ever to schedule important meetings and have that information organized in a simple format that’s easy to follow. I’ve used Calendly several times and it was so simple to use. I love the fact that others can simply view my availability and select a meeting time that suits everyone without a bunch of back and forth emails. Calendly is free to use on the basic plan.
Dropbox is an online cloud service where you can save documents, photos, and videos. Basically, it serves as an important backup system for anything you have saved on your computer. Dropbox is free up to a certain storage limit. I pay the $10 per month for extra storage because I want to save all of my photos and videos there as well. I was so nervous about my laptop crashing and guess what – it did indeed crash a few months ago. But I had all of my files saved in Dropbox. Crisis averted!
This is a given right?! I love to work from a desktop because I enjoy a big screen but I also have a laptop for traveling. Whichever is your preference or if you prefer both as well, having one is crucial in the running of your business. Do you process payments? You need a laptop or computer for that. Yes, you can also use your phone for this as well (a bonus must have business tool). Do you blog for your business? Yes, you need a laptop for this too.
Finally, a planner to schedule out your week is also a must have business tool. Planners can be electronic or paper. You choose which is best for you. I prefer to use my Google calendar as it syncs well with Calendly so I can have everything in one spot. It’s great when business systems can work together. This saves us time and effort. And that’s definitely a win in my book.

I have not heard about Calendly before. I will definitely be looking into this. I love my laptop, I love being able to work from anywhere in the house and even out of the house.
Planner wise: I use my phone, personal planner that stays in my handbag, and a paper one that hangs on the wall above my desk. My husband and I have a lot of medical appointments and this keeps me organized.
Have you heard of the evernote website/app? It syncs with your phone if you use it on line, and visa versa. You can keep all your business ideas/notes in one place in case something comes to mind while you are out of the house or not working that exact moment. Great part is it’s free!
So glad you’ll be checking it out. Thanks Gina!
